About Me

Katina A. New was born in San Francisco, CA.  Her mother introduced her to fashion at an early age by dressing her to the nines and making all her little outfits.  At age 8, she moved to Texas where her mother and aunt started their own home-based seamstress business.  Katina became fascinated with ALL of this and so the desire to design and create stylish clothes was born. 

 

She quickly learned to sew and gained and eye for detail by watching and helping her mother and aunt with all their projects.  Her mother pushed her to start sewing when Katina started asking her to change the style of the pattern for items that she was making for her.  She saw the designer in her daughter.  For her 16th birthday, Katina was given her first sewing machine and this was the start of her future.

 

Katina attended Prairie View A&M University as a Fashion Design & Merchandising major.   She later completed her education at University of Texas at Arlington and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in May 2011.

 

Katina is currently CEO of Katina Kouture Designs and is offering custom tailoring, made to order fashions, classic and specialty alterations, and unique bridal accessories and jewelry and other seamstress services to fulfill all your sewing needs.  As far as future endeavors, she is also working on her line of evening/bridal attire and accessories, intimates, and sexy body jewelry to soon be available for purchase online.
